Hello October: Not All Cancers Are Pink

When we think of cancer awareness, the color pink often comes to mind. Every October, we see pink ribbons, pink merchandise and pink campaigns. These are all reminders of the fight against breast cancer which deserves all of the recognition and action, but there is something that we don't talk about enough: Not All Cancers Are Pink.

Gynecologic cancers impact thousands of people and families each year and are still very commonly overlooked. These cancers deserve awareness, visibility, and care as well. Talking openly about gynecologic cancers helps break down the stigma and empowers people to recognize symptoms, seek screenings, and advocate for their health. Signs like irregular bleeding, persistent bloating, abdominal pain, or unusual discharge should be shared so that people will know when it is time for them to see a doctor about their symptoms. These signals are worth listening to, and knowing them can make all the difference.

This campaign isn't about replacing pink, it is about adding new colors to the conversation. Every ribbon represents real people, families, and stories of strength. By broadening awareness, we honor those who are fighting, uplift survivors, and remind ourselves that compassion and knowledge go hand-in-hand. So, let's speak up, share our resources, and support organizations leading the charge! Most of all, let's remember that when it comes to cancer, every color matters and every story deserves to be seen.
