JOY! A feeling that many desire openly and secretly. A feeling that turns frowns into smiles. YES! Joy is a feeling that can be brought on externally by the love of others or simply by transformed thoughts of ourselves, our lives, and our relationships. Joy can be defined as a great pleasure and happiness. Some other words that define joy are rejoice, bliss, exuberance, happiness, and triumph to name a few.
Some people are rolling into the new year of 2018 with a heart of hope for something better, yearning for change, a supernatural move of healing, and even pain in the soul that words could not explain. When I think about joy, I remember the moment my daughter, Kristyna came into this world. I endured a lot of pain before, during and even after her birth. However, in spite of the physical pain I experienced, it was all so worth it! There’s nothing that could compare to the joy she brought me then and even now.
When we take a moment in time to think about the desires we have for 2018, let’s keep in mind the words Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 8:18, “The pain that you’ve been feeling, can’t compare to the joy that’s coming.” God has also given us comforting words through the scripture in Isaiah 4:10 that says, “Don’t be afraid for I am with you...” I could really stop right there! It’s comforting to know that God is with us and we do not have to go on this journey through life alone. This word continues on by saying, “...Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Remember this...Joy is strengthened through our faith. Faith cometh by hearing (and hearing, and hearing, and hearing) and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). Be encouraged and speak life into yourself, over your home, in your situation, over your relationships and your mind. God’s word will prevail - proving to be more powerful than any opposing or negative force. Hey! You ARE victorious and were built to AMAZE! So, SHOUT! Get EXCITED - for whatever your past, whatever you’re experiencing now, whatever your pain - it will NOT compare to the JOY that’s coming! Tell yourself EVERYDAY, “I am filled with JOY! The JOY of the Lord! Unspeakable, Unbreakable, and Unconditional JOY!
